Nolan is an Italian brand of motorcycle helmets. Nolan motorcycle helmets come in several styles - flip-up (modular), full-face, open-face (Nolan jet), and crossover (non flip-up modular). Nolan helmets are marketed as a moderately priced alternative to high-end helmet brands like Arai and Shoei. The company that manufactures Nolan helmets, Nolan Group was founded in 1972 by Lander Nocchi - an entrepreneur who wanted to make lighter and more affordable helmets. To make the first Nolans, Nocchi purchased a light and versatile plastic material called Lexan. All components of Nolan helmets are manufactured in Nolan Group factories in Italy. Nolan Group has two other brands - the racing brand X-Lite and the budget motorcycle brand GREX.
